The Looks

The iPhone 11 comes with the Apple design we are all used to. High-quality brushed aluminum frame with the power button on the right and volume buttons and the mute switch on the left. The back is finished in glossy glass, except the camera block which is finished in matt glass. You will find the stereo speakers and the charging plug on the bottom. The iPhone 11 is available in 6 colors: black, white, purple, red, green, and yellow, although the colors seem rather pastelly.

Display

The 11th generation of Apple phones comes with a 6.1″ Liquid Retina IPS LCD with a resolution of 828x1792px, a pixel density of 326bpi and a refresh rate of 60Hz, which is compared to other smartphones, the time of the review (February 2022), lower as the iPhone 11 doesn’t support FullHD Videos. For the daily usage still more than enough and considering the price of the phone is still dropping a valuable alternative.

Battery

With the 3110mAh battery, the iPhone 11 won’t get the price for a high-end battery, especially compared to newer Android phone. Altough with the iPhone 11, Apple introduced a much more advanced power management tool. Usage is dynamically monitored, and performance is managed as required. Also, battery aging is monitored by the system and adapted to the needs of the battery. So even with a smaller battery, compared to other smartphones, the iPhone 11 convinces with outstanding performance. The 11th Gen phone supports up to 18W fast charging but the phone only comes with a 5W charger, so additional chargers have to be acquired separately. Alternatively, the iPhone 11 can also be charged wireless.

Camera

The iPhone 11 comes with a 12MP main camera, an additional 12MP ultrawide camera, which allows you to take decent photos. Also, there is a 12MP front camera with a 23mm lens. During daylight, all cameras perform superbly and compared to newer models are still valuable options. When considering the dropping price the iPhone 11 comes with one of the best cameras in this price segment. But when it comes to night shots the main camera performs outstandingly, with the integrated night mode. Videos can be taken in up to 4k and 60fps, also with the front camera. Additionally, the camera comes with several useful photo and video modes, like portrait and slow motion.

Operating System

Like every Apple product, the iPhone 11 runs iOS which you can either hate or love. There isn’t that much more to say about it. A huge benefit when it comes to Apples compared to Android phones: There will much longer be software support and security updates. Updates are expected to be until at least 2026, which is even longer than most new Android phones.

Compatibility

There is an amazing range of Apple and third-party products that can be acquired separately. The negative part is only when it comes to android software-based extensions, like a smartwatch or a tablet, Apple wants you to stick to apple products.

Benchmark

The Antutu benchmark score of Apple iPhone 11 is 507833 points. It is better than 90 % of the mobile phones at the time of this review.

Conclusion

Even at the time of this review (February 2022) the iPhone 11 is a top-notch smartphone, settled in the midprice range category, with huge advantages like the camera or nearly endless software support. As the phone is from 2019 you won’t be able to get all the features that come with a modern iPhone, like the iPhone 13 but they are also not in the same price range. If you want an iPhone which is still valuable and also will be a few years from now, there is nothing wrong with going with an 11th generation model.
